It was just last night since the semis ended.
Sadly the team I was rooting for lost the ticket
to the finals.
So that was it, I was
saddened but positive that time will come for the Kings to #ReclaimTheThrone as
die-hard fans hash tags on twitter say.
But today is different, I was pissed. Not
because my team lost. It was how
somebody reacted to my tweet. It was
truly shallow but I cannot help but react, wanting to vent. So what the heck!
How my love for the team starts.
I have been watching
basketball since I was a child, maybe not the PBA but the local inter-barangay
teams playing. Interest grows in highschool. It was in late high-school and
college when I was able to get to know the PBA teams. As far as I can remember,
it was cheering for Purefoods then, Alvin Patrimonio being my favorite, humble
and great player. Of course I also
enjoyed watching, the eye-candy, Richie Ticzon.
My sisters was already cheering for Ginebra at that time, crushing on Vince Hizon, yihee!!! (dear sisters, just this shows the age you are now at, peace!) And Big J was already playing and coaching at that time. Sundays was mostly our bonding time where we
would spend watching PBA on television.
Mirienda time spent with pandesal and ice cream or hot noodles. But that was it, clean fun and entertainment.
Then there comes, Rudy freaking Hatfield! And i was mesmerized. Yup i'm self-confessed fan-addict of the H-Bomb. Who would not be...i was sold by the eyes...damn! I'd cut-out articles and photo as hang it out on my bed side. My teenage giggling self is indeed guilty of chasing and cheering the team he's with. From Tanduay to Coca Cola. And not until late 2012, i have renewed my passion for watching the ball, it has been some time off that i barely know the players. Of course the magnet that takes me back to the game is my all-time favorite, Rudy Hatfield, who was back playing for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. And yeah he's now married with kids! Indeed a long period of time has passed. But still all praises to H-BOMB, he is not just good looking. Loving his personality - great heart - passion, dedication, hard-work along with the goofiness and all. Thanks to the onset of the social media, we get to have step closer to our favorites. Now i'm deeply sold. It was kinda heart breaking when news break out that he's retiring. I indeed felt so much older, why, my favorite cager is now retiring! :) So at this point, lemme pay tribute to my basketball King...would he be in WWE if he did not become professional basketball player? LOL
We miss the hustle but we are forever thankful.
Trivia: Rudy Hatfield was hailed as the newest member of the 2,000 defensive rebounds club, July 2012.
Love the WWE antics on interview, goofiness overload
New blood
After the end of 2013 Commissioner's Cup came the never-ending trade begins. It was somewhat heartbreaking, but the team needs a re-haul after the heart breaking finals sweep by Alaska. It was indeed a journey by Ginebra Kings, after being the seventh seed, we kicked ROS in eliminations, battled TNT for the semis and entered the Finals wounded. Needless to say, we've been to war to enter the finals, players and import are now injured or not 100% well. If the Kings won that game, it could be the perfect basketball movie plot that would make box-office records, considering the huge fan base the team has, imagine the record breaking attendance for every big game that Ginebra plays. After the Governors Cup, the draft was held, November of 2013 at Robinsons Ermita. Out of curiosity, i joined the mammoth crowd and was star-strucked.
